Our Institution is called “Sociedad Canaria Elio Antonio de Nebrija”. It is a non governmental association. It is legally established. We have the following structure: President, Vice-president, secretary, treasurer and 5 members from different areas (education, publications, institutional relations, projects and use of information and communication). We have 450 teachers. Our main objective is the permanent teacher training.
We have the following activities: training courses, conferences, congresses, symposiums, seminars y participation in projects.
We cover the following areas: specially language and media. Improving the process teaching-learning, expression and understanding (written and orally), working on the correct use of language in different circumstances (administrative language, economic language, business language, etc.) working on interdisciplinary (relating all areas through communication), working on multicultural, relating different languages, applying informatics to the teaching-learning process.
We train teachers that work, in order to improve their knowledge and also just graduated teachers that acquire professional practice
The association is experienced in organizing big events. Since its creation, it organizes every year a congress with an average attendance of 300 people. There were various topics: work with immigrants students to different service which will enable them to develop their capabilities and skills; to become a major factor ensuring equal and full-fledged social involvement in the life of the society and represent the interests and protect the basic rights of those individuals.
The organization provide:

  • to establish social agreement and collaboration across the territory;
  • to provide to young and adult people at risk of social exclusion access to culture and education;
  • to provide social, cultural and leisure activities encouraging coexistence and tolerance;
  • to foster economic development, employment and training;
  • to promote activities which are a social service to the community and immigrant integration;
  • to promote activities among the youth, women and the elderly.

AJPRA – UNESCO Center Village of Sciences (Portugal)

AJPRA – Association to Communitarian, Cultural and Educational Development is a non-profit organization with public utility status in Évora, Portugal. It was founded in January 1995 and, during its existence, it has been developing projects related with education, culture, environment, sustainable development, science and technology, developing an important role on investigation and formation. The main purpose is to support the active and non-active population.

In the last years AJPRA, in protocol with the national Commission of UNESCO, created a UNESCO Center about water, energy efficiency, environment and sustainable development, the UNESCO Center – Village of Sciences. This partnership with the national Commission of UNESCO emphasized the importance of the organization and streamlined the relations with the population, developing a strong network of cooperation.

AJPRA has been the prosecutor of several formations, including the formation during real work context. AJPRA works mainly with adults and youth formation and education.

In this project, AJPRA will receive the partners on the second meeting and its main function is to join all the information of the project in a DVD, in order to maintain the project good practices, manage and create the project Facebook page and official web site.

Scoala Gimnaziala “Maria Rosetti” (Romania)

ROMANIAN SCHOOL LOGO

The Romanian School Maria Rosetti is placed in a district of Bucharest with a stable population formed mostly by middle-class families. The staff of the school has experience as coordinator of several European projects and besides the provision of formal education acts on the following fields:

  • advocating for the protection of the rights of children and mothers in situations of risk and emigrants;
  • collaborating with academic institutions, governmental agencies, non governmental organizations and advocacy groups in the development and implementation of social programs for the Rroma community;
  • contribution to public awareness and prevention of human rights violations through regular seminar series and workshops as well as participation in national and international conferences on human rights, including trafficking in persons, women’s rights (projects in collaboration with Orthodox Romanian Church, UNICEF and ONU);
  • encouragement of international scholarship and exchange teachers and pupils experience;
  • promoting the use of IT and multimedia-materials with the educational purposes and services.

It’s very important and useful for us to participate in this European project that assures us to help our learners to understand how they can benefit directly from their rights as European citizens and at the same time, how to be actively involved in our European common future. Being a transnational project is the best opportunity to discuss common problems of various communities, guaranteed work experience opportunities, exchanging good practice examples through direct communication channels with people from different European countries.

The organization in carrying out the normal activities had different experiences in verbal and non verbal communication, in the integration of territories and cultures, journalism, multimedia tools necessary to overcome any barriers, both cultural and linguistic. Most relate to the activities organized by the 360 communication in its various forms, alternative to the verbal. This decade of experience gained from the communication appears to be essential for the success of activities. The organization also works with young people and adults usually unemployed, people with difficulty in entering the social and professional, helping them to integrate, support them both in training, and social work. Consequently knows the peculiar problems of the target in question and their approaches, teaching methodologies and solutions. The main objective of the association is the professional training, the education, lifelong learning, multicultural integration, European cooperation. Moreover, it deals mainly with the social rehabilitation and employment of unemployed youth and adults who:

  • Difficult to integrate or reintegrate being on the margins of society;
  • Living in disadvantaged areas,
  • See in training a possible solution to their problems, or improving their socio-economic position;
  • link on the development of communication techniques in order to participate actively and democratically, as the Europeans.

The institution has had a long experience with disadvantaged learners, at risk of social exclusion, people who found it difficult to fit within the margins of society.

 

Tsada Cultural and Folklore Club (Cyprus)

Our aim is to promote Cypriot traditions and identity by exposing the cultural and artistic elements of its history and past. Tsada is the village of the National Heroe, Evagoras Pallikarides, where his home was turned into a museum. The Club is dedicated to preserve cultural heritage and promote the customs, traditions and the genuine elements of folklore life. It operates as a social and cultural club where friends and associates of our organization can benefit from relevant cultural endeavors, such as preservation and restoring cultural items and tools used in the daily life of the village. Through its activities, it provides cultural induction to Cyprus to people from Europe and other countries, through short tours in the region. Cypriot Villages got popular not only for their hospitality, but also for the wealth in cultural tools used for cooking, sewing, working in the fields, and produce food and home goods. It is also worth mentioning that Cypriot villages are promoting agricultural products; producing and packaging traditional goods in order to maintain the quality of homemade food products. Women from our region are well known for the production of agricultural products such as grape products of Kiofterka, soutzoukos, stafides and paloyzes. Moreover, they produce “Gliko tou Koytaliou” which are sweets made of fruits conserved naturally in their syrop.

Occupational therapy workshop realizes activities connected with social and vocational rehabilitation aimed at general development and improvement efficiency which are necessary for disabled people to lead more independent and active life.

The realization through workshop activities, which are mentioned above, is done by:

  1. General improvement;
  2. Skills development which includes fulfilling everyday activities and personal resourcefulness, with the use of techniques applied during occupational therapy;
  3. Preparation to living in social environment particularly through planning and communicate skills development, making choices, deciding about personal issues, development of other skills necessary in independent life and improvement of psychical and physical condition;
  4. Development of psycho-physical skills indispensable at work;
  5. Development of basic and specialized professional skills which give the possibility of finding jobs in a professional activity plant or other paid work or professional training.
  6. The workshop is a day institution.
